The Hackness Valley, full of birdlife at this time of year. Also seen was Linnet, Grey Wagtail, Kingfisher, Willow Warbler, Teal, Swift, Swallow, House Martin and Sand Martin.
My second ever Red Backed Shrike. This male had been seen the evening before at Old Fall, Flamborough, so I thought I would take an early visit the next day, with a possible hope of gaining the usual distant shot that a Shrike will let you have, instead I was rewarded with these beauties.
The Redstarts are back in the Hackness Valley. These beautiful birds nested in the valley last year and have returned lasting the very long journey all the way from Africa.
Another trip up on to the magnificent North Yorkshire Moors. This time went to Rosedale & Farndale, through Bransdale and up on to Danby Beacon to try and find some Dotterel which had been seen there the evening before. Unfortunately no look finding the Dotterel, but did find a nesting Ring Ouzel and all of the above, a great day's birding
What an amazing sight. The above Lapwing faking a broken wing to try and make the sheep move away from its nest. After several attempts the bird had to use brute force.
Bransdale - What a wonderful place at this time of year, so much going on. The Red Grouse and Lapwings all had young. Also seen - Cuckoo, Golden Plover, Curlew, Linnet and Meadow Pipit.
A large party of Swifts appeared briefly above my house, so i took on the challenge of trying to capture some of these birds in flight - not easy at all!
This bird has been present for the last few days at East Newton, East Yorkshire. Quite a tricky bird to photography, liked perching and feeding from telegraph wires, bad light once again (digiscoped images).
This bird still present on the pond at Weel, Nr Beverley, East Yorkshire. Kept its distance at the far end of the pool, poor light conditions again, above pics are digiscoped images.
These Little Ringed Plovers were hidden within the stones and pebbles on one of the islands looking from the Marsh Hide at Top Hill Low Nature Reserve (digiscoped images).
After several sightings of the above Barn Owl at Wykeham, but no picture opportunities, I new it was only a matter of time before this beautiful bird would let me in close for a few shots.
Finally I managed a few shots of my bogus bird the Black Redstart, I always seem to dip out on this bird each year. A lot of activity on the Castle Headland, covered in Kittiwakes with a few pairs of Fulmars scattered around.
I have now got my own website - STEVERACE.COM, please feel free to take a look and if you are happy with what you see, add the website to your favorites and tell your friends.
