Spotted Redshank

Found the above Spotted Redshank on Seamer Carr Tip Pools today which was quite a surprise. A beautiful wader even in winter plumage was quite confiding at first but started to get a bit startled plenty of head bobbing and calling, so it was time to back down and go back to the car for a warm flask of tea.

Will try and update my blog more frequently again soon, but for now please also checkout my website at -

tristis-type Chiffchaff

A tristis-type Chiffchaff has been present at the east end of Star Carr just south of Seamer Carr Tip and is showing signs of being a possible Siberian. More information on this bird can be found on the Scarborough Birders sightings page.

Please also check out Dave Mansell's images at Please feel free to drop me an email with any comments regarding ID of this bird to try and pin point it down to a Siberian.
